Durable Packaging Protects Food and Beverage Commodities

In this blog, we follow the journey of perishable and non-perishable goods in the warehouse, on the road, and at the loading dock. Along this winding path are warehousing obstacles and logistical challenges that durable packaging helps to mitigate when integrated into supply chain operations. Learn more about Peninsula Plastics’ standardized pallets and how their characteristics enhance your packaging processes.

In The Warehouse

Our story begins in the bustling chaos of the warehouse, where large quantities of grocery items await pickup. In this environment, goods face their first hurdle: rough handling. Peninsula Plastics’ packaging is a durable protective solution, cradling each delicate item with care. Also, with superior hygienic structure and easy-to-clean surfaces, our products ensure your groceries remain untouched and unharmed.

On The Road

As items depart from the warehouse, they embark along bending roads and busy highways where they face unfavorable conditions. Drivers experience potholes, winding roads, and quick stops while traveling on the road. These situations create substantial vibration to the contents loaded within the trailer that can cause damage. When investing in Peninsula Plastics’ packaging solutions, standard random vibrations and side impact concerns are eliminated.

At The Loading Dock

Upon arriving at the loading dock, items encounter one last set of obstacles. Here, amidst the hustle and bustle of loading and unloading, the risk of mishaps becomes even larger. Peninsula Plastics’ solutions are optimized for ease of use and standardized models offer compatibility with forklifts/pallet jacks. With packaging and its contents securely in place, the items navigate through the loading docks unscathed. This supports the ease of transportation to the destination, whether it be in cold or dry storage, or on display.

Peninsula Plastics offers a 48” x 18” twin sheet pallet to help maximize limited storage and display space. This pallet allows items to be safely stored 6” above ground level and has an antimicrobial design to prevent bacteria from growing. HMWPE composition allows for pallets to be stored in both dry (non-perishable) and cold (perishable) storage areas. Its efficient footprint supports a magnitude of different-sized packages that can help increase storage space or be used to display products while enhancing floor space. Footprint also supports ease of product movement through standard-sized doors, typically seen at gas stations, liquor stores, and convenience stores. Available access points support both forklift and pallet jack truck usage to easily move products around.
